Changing Wine for Few into Food for Many

Package Pavement and Red Wing Properties, both companies owned by the Doherty family, have given wine to customers for a number of years to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. The wine cost about $5,000 and went to customers who probably had enough of their own wine. In keeping with the spirit of the season this year, Package and Red Wing have also spent $5,000. This was given in $1,000 gifts to the five Food Banks within the company's sales territory: The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley, The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, the Food Bank of New York City, the Connecticut Food Bank and Long Island Cares, Inc., LI's first food bank. Doherty family spokesperson emphasized the hope that all customers will feel as good about their gift this year as they ever have in the past.
